Nambor Festival at Golaghat

The Nambor Wildlife Conservation Society of Golaghat is going to organize Nambor Festival on March 1 to 10, 2013, the main aim to organize this festival to promote tourism, eco-tourism and conservation of wildlife and forestry in the Nambor reserve forest area. The 10 days long festival will also showcase ethnic food, craft mela, SHG mela and colorful function of folk dance.

Golaghat: Upper Assam Commissioner Julie Sonowal visited Golaghat on Thursday to investigate the the liquor tragedy which claimed more than 200 people in Golaghat and Jorhat districts. Golaghat: At least 20 people died and 50 others have been struggling for life in the Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital hours after they consumed illicit liquor at a remote tea garden in Golaghat district on Friday.  The incident took place at Halmira Tea Estate on Thursday evening after a group of people, mostly, workers consumed illicit liquor prepared at a local household. GOLAGHAT: Golaghat district administration on Tuesday launched the Swacch Sarvekshan Grameen 2018, a rural cleanliness programme under the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation which will rank all districts of the country on the basis of sanitation (Swacchata) parameters.The ranking will be based on parameters such as data from Swacch Bharat Mission-Gramin IMIS, district-level surveys of public places like schools, Anganwadis, PHCs, haat bazaars, Panchayat and citizen’s perception of Swacchata.
