Award to Ajit Baruah

The Nijara Kavi Sailadhar Rajkhowa Memorial Award committee has selected eminent Assamese Poet and Critic Ajit Baruah for the 2007 Nijara Kavi Sailadhar Rajkhowa Memorial Award.

The award, instituted to keep the memory of Sailadhar Rajkhowa alive and to acknowledge the contribution made in the field of Assamese verse or drama, carries Rs.12,000 in cash and a citation.

The award will be presented to Baruah on December 17.

Road mishap at Raha, 10 critically injured

In a freak road accident near ASEB office at Raha, 10 persons were injured and some others grievously hurt including the drivers. At a function held at Raha PWD ( Public Works Department ) Inspection Bunglaw on December 5, textbooks published by Assam State Textbook Production and Publication Corporation Limited under Sarba Siksha Abhijan Mission were distributed for the year 2012 among the schools of Raha block elementary education office.
