The Raha unit of All Assam Students’ Union ( AASU ) on Monday, September 12, took out a cycle rally at Raha, all in protest against the land exchange accord between India and Bangladesh during the prime minister Manmohan Singh’s recent visit to Dhaka. The rally visited several villages of Raha where more than hundreds of AASU members and supporters took part. The participants shouted slogans against the Assam Chief minister Tarun Gogoi ,who accompanied P M Manmohan Singh in his two day Dhaka trip.
In a statement the AASU said that the anti-Assam policies of both the Centre and the State government shall never be tolerated at any cost and no land of Assam will be handed over to Bangladesh.
“ This is very unfortunate that how the prime minister, a parliamentarian from the state, signed an agreement in presence of the state chief minister to cede Assam’s land to Bangladsh. “ the AASU said.
Lambasting Tarun Gogoi, the AASU said the deal a betrayal for the people of Assam.
