Rich tributes paid to Dr Bhupen Hazarika at Raha


A pioneer of Assamese music and cinema Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s death has been deeply and widely mourned by all walks of people and the members of different socio-cultural and other organizations at Raha. The Raha town committee, Raha unit of AASU, NSUI, AJYCP, Raha Sports Assocition, Raha Press club, Business community, and several other socio-cultural organizations offered their condolences and prayed for eternal peace for his departed soul.


The residents of Raha also lighted an earthen lamp in front of their houses in respect to the departed soul of Dr. Hazarika who came to Raha in 2002 to join a Bihu programme. A local bandh was also observed today from 6 a.m to 1 p.m as part of tribute to the departed soul of “ The jajabr ”

Hira Mohan Borthakur, the retired principal of thr Kanpur Higher Secondary & Multi Purpose School died after prolonged illness on Sunday. . The additional chief engineer of state PWD department had a narrow escape as the Alto car ( AS 01 DF 9185 ) he was driving turned turtle after hitting into divider on NH 37 near Raha chariali on Thursday noon. The Raha unit of All Assam Students' Union ( AASU ) on Tuesday condemned the Silapathar incident and demanded the arrest of culprits immediately. The AASU unit also threatened to launch an agitation if the culprits are not apprehended soon. Three Adivasi Tiger Force ( ATF ) insurgents were arrested with 5 live grenades from Rajagaon village , Kachua on Friday night.
