Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Sunday said that the BTAD situation is under control.Talking to Sonia Gandhi over telephone in the morning, Gogoi apprised the Congress president of the preparedness to firmly deal with the situation in the trouble torn areas.The UPA chairperson called up Gogoi assuring him of all help from the Centre to improve the situation at an earlier date.Notably, 33 people were killed, 23 have been remaining traceless apart from injury of 30 others in a string of attacks on minority people./

At least 22 people have gone traceless after miscreants set on fire over 50 houses on Friday night.Twenty four hours have passed since the miscreants launched an attack on Khagrabari village in Salbari sub division. But these people, mostly women and children, have been remaining clueless.According to information, a group of over 40 armed militants arrived in the tiny hamlet on Friday midnight. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has expressed grave concern over the fresh orgy of violence in BTAD where 33 people were killed and over 25 have gone missing.In a statement, the prime minister who represents Assam in parliament asked the chief minister to deal with the situation firmly. Senior citizens in Guwahati have alleged a nefarious political conspiracy behind the bloodbath in BTAD where at least 33 people lost their lives during the last 36 hours.After holding a meeting at the Guwahati Press Club, noted intellectual Dr Hiren Gohain said that the authority has straightly blamed it all on NDFB-S.
