Friends looking for writers

To succeed in this competitive global environment, every student needs to have high motivation, ambition and perseverance to face the various challenges that they face. To do so, they require lot of positive attitude and inspiration from peers. Parents in this age are looking for resources, books and journals that would inspire their children to have ambition and a global outlook to excel in their chosen field of study.


The magazine Friends is a sincere effort by the Non residents of Assam towards the upliftment of the Students and youths of the North East India. It contains articles on career guidance, education, travel and tourism, volunteering and Social entrepreneurism. Chief Editor Mr. Ankur Bora from Dallas, Texas, USA sincerely desires that students and the youth of the North East India will benefit from this journal as the motto of this journal is –To inform, to inspire and to instill. It is also expected that the parents will gift this magazine to their children as a valuable resource for career development and for their future personal and professional growth.

The Election Commission has ordered repolling in three booths in Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency acting on the allegations of rigging in the second phase of polling on April 12.Repolling is all set to take place in Haricharan Mahamaya LP School, Kaberiband LP School and Matijhuri Girls’ HS School from 7 in the morning.Notably, BJP alleged large scale rigging in these three booths in Karimganj in the second phase of polling on April 12. A lower court on Monday sent Kamal Medhi to jail after he was produced before it in connection with a fresh case against him.Amid tight security, police produced the KMSS general secretary before the Kamrup Chief Judicial magistrate on Tuesday where he was remanded to judicial custody.He was produced before the court in connection with a fresh case registered against him in Bharalumukh police station.On the other hand, police have yet to got Medhi in their remand in connection with the Pranab Boro self immolation case. The Gauhati High court is considering a petition from police seeking Medhi in their custody.        
A string of violence seems to have marred the statewide Assam bandh on Tuesday.Called by a number of non Bodo organizations in protest against the bloodbath in BTAD, the bandh evoked mixed response.Bandh supporters in many places are on the streets to enforce the call from 6 in the morning. A section of these supporters pelted stones at passenger buses, shops and markets.Several bandh supporters were thrashed by police when they attacked a passenger at Sonaribari area near Samoguri in the morning.Bandh supporters in Nalbari damaged several vehicles at Borkhetri in Nalbari. A high level NIA team is on a stock-taking visit to the BTAD areas on Tuesday.Led by an additional director general, the team of top ranked officials is visiting the trouble torn area in BTAD to assess the ground situation.After collecting the initial inputs from the civil and army officials deployed in the BTAD areas, the NIA officials would leave back for New Delhi to formally register the cases.The team gathered some initial inputs after holding separate meeting with chief secretary JS Khosla and DGP Khagen Sarma.The ADG review the inputs after his tour in BTAD areas on Tuesday.NIA on Friday agreed to probe the cases of BTAD violence after the chief minister recommended the probe./
The overall situation in BTAD areas remained normal. There is no report of any untoward incident during the last 96 hours.Baksa, Chirang and Kokrajhar district administration have relaxed curfew from 10 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon in view of the let up in the situation.Over 1500 people in Narayanguri have been  sheltering at a few camps set up by the authorities heavily guarded by the security forces.But a section of political leaders have alleged lack of relief materials for the refugees.Army, police and para military forces are on round the clock patrolling in the streets in Kokrajhar, Chirang and Baksa to thwart any move of the miscreants who have killed at least 37 people...
A full scale combing operation is going on in the trouble torn BTAD areas after 36 people lost their lives in a string of attacks on the religious people.But there is no report of any notable success.Army, police and para military forces have cordoned off a huge area in worst-hit Salbari, Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar and Narayanpuri areas in search of the miscreants who have been mongering trouble for the last couple of days.Indo-Bhutan border has been sealed to restrict the movement of the NDFB-S militants apart from the round-the-clock vigil along the Kokrajhar-Dhubri inter district border.  A parallel operation is also in progress to seize the illegal arms in the entire BTAD areas....
In a bizarre incident, local residents in an interior area in Dhubri district lynched a miscreant on its way to attack a political leader.The incident took place at Patakata in South Samara sub division on Monday morning where local residents caught three armed youths as they were trying to attack a local leader.One of the armed youths died on the spot while two others, who are in police custody, have been battling for life in the hospital.     
A four member is on a stock-taking visit to the BTAD areas on Monday.Consisting of top ranked officials of the investigation agency, the team is set to tour the entire trouble torn spots in BTAD areas to assess the ground situation.The agency would broaden the ambit of the probe in the later stage. After collecting the initial inputs from the civil and army officials deployed in the BTAD areas, the NIA officials would leave back for New Delhi.NIA on Friday agreed to probe the cases of BTAD violence after the chief minister recommended the probe./
 Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said on Monday that the move for allowing arms to the villagers in the name of self defence would result in a disaster.Talking to reporters in New Delhi, the former Union finance minister said that infusion of arms among the villagers would create nothing but civil war.He further said that the government has been failing to firmly deal with the situation and that’s why, it is a move to surrender before the trouble mongers by allowing arms among the villagers.
The Assam Government will not allow any arms for the BTAD villagers. This was what chief minister Tarun Gogoi told reporters in Dispur on Monday.Talking to reporter, Gogoi said that he has already rejected a proposal he received on Sunday for allowing arms to villagers in BTAD areas to face the miscreants.Forest minister who has been closely monitoring the situation proposed arms among the villagers in some BTAD areas for self defence.       /
