100 hours NCHills Bandh disrupts normal at Haflong


The NC. Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum sponsored 100 hours N. C. Hills Bandh started from 6 PM on Friday disrupted the normal life at Haflong. Due to 4th Saturday all the offices remain closed. No vehicle was seen on the road except of security.


The NCHISF has been demanding immediate bifurcation of N. C. Hills into two Autonomous District with separate Autonomous Council. The Government has also constituted a task force to deal with them. Last 21st January was fixed for talk in-between task force and the IPF and NCHISF but it was deferred by January 28th. Now both the organizations are demanding immediate solution to their demand.

I would like to informed the you and the Esteem news paper at the same time that We the KHELMA's of Dima Hasao elswhere NCHILLS dont support the Bandh nor support the Organization North Cachar Hills Indigenous Peoples Forum (NCHIPF). We on behalf of the KHELMA community would like to request you to please clarify on the same in the next article so that the confusion among the tribes are not created. Acting on a tip off, Haflong police nabbed two cadres of Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) from Mahur, 35 KM from Haflong on Monday. Following repeated interrogation of these cadres one AK Riffle, two magazine and 58 rounds of ammunition were recovered from one Lunjahao Lienthang of Numjang village under Mahur police station. Both the cadres identified as Thancha Khingsai, 27 of Changpijang under Mahur PS and Lansen Kuki, 25 of Mulkon under Maibang police station were brought to Haflong Police station for further interrogation.
