District children's science congress at Udalguri on Sep 24


The National Children's Science Congress (NCSC) Udalguri district congress will be held at Ramswarup Agarwalla Memorial English Scool,Udalguri on September 24 with day long programme.Students and children from various schools and places of the district will present their projects on various sub themes like-Know your land, Functions of soil,Soil quality,Anthropodegenic activities on land,Sustainable use of land resources, Community knowledge on land use, under the focal theme-”Land Resources: Use for Prosperity,Save for Posterity”.The NCSC programme in Assam has been supervised by Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC) Guwahati in association with Bharat Jana Vigyan Jatha (BJVJ) and SSEAEP,Nagaon.


Recently a meeting was held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Udalguri to discuss the matter.The meeting was convened and presided over by SS Meenakshi Sundaram,Deputy Commissioner,Udalguri.Two ADCs of the district namely Mihir Kumar Barua and Kulen Talukdar,MP Sarma,Project Director DRDA,Udalguri,M Banu,Inspector of Schools,Udalguri,Principals of a few Udalguri schools,all the coordinators of six Aryabhatta Science Centres of the district, namely-Kalaigaon, Khoirabari,Bhergaon,Udalguri,Rowta and Mazbat blocks attended the meeting.A reception committee was formed with DC Udalguri as the president;Inspector of Schools,Udalguri as the working president;Bhakta Chetri,Principal Ramswarup Agarwalla Memorial English School,Udalguri as the secretary and Nitu Deka as the asstt.secretary for the conduct of the science congress on September 24. The meeting requests Rihon Daimari, Minister, PHE, Assam to attend the congress as the chief guests.Dr.SK Choudhuri, Director, ASTEC,Guwahati and Dr.Anil Kumar Goswami,former principal of Cotton College and former Director ASTEC will attend the session as the special guests.


The reception committee has requested all the heads of the institutions of the district to send as many as projects under the guidance of a teacher each.The names of the participants in pescribed registration form should reach the reception committee or District coordinator on or before September 22.The names may also be send to the office of the Inspector of Schools Udalguri.It has also been decided that the district administration, udalguri will felicitate the participants of the science model exhibition,held at DCs parade ground on August 15.

Protesting against sharp price rise of essential commodities in the country,more than five hundred people mostly woman staged dharna in front of Kalaigaon Revenue Circle Office today on September 2 at 11 am on the day of Bharat Bandh.The protesters blocked the main gate of Kalaigaon Revenue Circle Office preventing government officials and employees including Additional Deputy Commissioner Udalguri.
