100 hours NC Hills bandh

In demand for the bifurcation of NC Hills into two Autonomous districts under 3 (C) of Articles 244 (2) & 275 (1) of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India, the North Cachar Hills Indigenous Students Forum (NCHISF) has given a 100 hours N. C. Hills Bandh from 4 AM of July 12.

The bringing of the bandh will not solve the problems of people like you and me. why do the people dont get in their mind of living in peace n harmony? The creation and division mind of the political leaders and the outfits will not do good for the common. you and i live in the land not only on individual. i pray for those who is still yet to understand the anger cloudy environment in the peace land of N.C.Hills.

With the demands like immediate release on bail of Chairman, Jewel Gorlosa, C-N-C Niranjan Hojai and cadres, to stop various investigating agencies instituted against DHD (J), to dismiss NIA cases against DHD (J), immediate settlement of DHD (J)’s problem and immediate implementation of Article 244(A) of Indian Constitution, all the cadres including leaders of Dima Halam Daogah (J) are observing 24 hours hunger strike from 6 AM today (Friday) at all the four designated camps. 2 rebels apprehended at NC Hills

In an early morning operation, the Army apprehended two militants from Bara Arkap village in southern Dima Hasao District under Mahur Police Station along with large quantity of arms and ammunition on Thursday. The militants were identified as Thanga Theak of Haflong and J Lalzarza of Bara Arkap, both belonging to the Hmar Peoples Convention (Democratic) militant group. Reportedly, Theak was the local area commander of the group. The Army authorities also recovered two AK-47, one SLR rifle, three grenades and more than 300 rounds of ammunition from the area.
