100 hours NC Hills bandh

In demand for the bifurcation of NC Hills into two Autonomous districts under 3 (C) of Articles 244 (2) & 275 (1) of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India, the North Cachar Hills Indigenous Students Forum (NCHISF) has given a 100 hours N. C. Hills Bandh from 4 AM of July 12.

The bringing of the bandh will not solve the problems of people like you and me. why do the people dont get in their mind of living in peace n harmony? The creation and division mind of the political leaders and the outfits will not do good for the common. you and i live in the land not only on individual. i pray for those who is still yet to understand the anger cloudy environment in the peace land of N.C.Hills.

DHD(J) resents army atrocities

Strong resentment was expressed by the Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel) over the army atrocities on its cadres those are staying at their respective designated camps at Maibang, Jatinga, Kapurcherra and Haflong communicating office on July 10. Paiprang Diamsa, former Publicity Secretary, DHD(J) argued as to why the security personals were harassing their cadres even after surrender of their arms en masse on October 2, 2009 and maintaining peace. Meanwhile, they have lodged a complaint to the Superintendent of Police against the Army authorities. In the letter they said as per the rules of surrender, the Army is not allowed to enter the designated.

100 hours NC Hills bandh called off

The 100 hours bandh from tomorrow 4 am by the North Cachar Hills Indigenous Students Forum (NCHISF) has been withdrawn following assurance from the government for second round of talks on July 21. The forum demanded bifurcation of NC Hills into two Autonomous districts under 3 (C) of Articles 244 (2) & 275 (1) of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution.

DHD(J) dandh paralise NC Hills

The DHD(J) has given the indefinite Dima Hasao Bandh in protest against the arrest of Niranjan Hojai, C-in-C and Jewel Gorlosa, Chairman, DHD(J) and non- fulfillment of their demand by the government. Today, being the Sunday, the movement of people is very less than other days of the week. The busy roads wear deserted look in and around the Haflong Town. Picketers are seen moving around the town. The ASTC services are suspended. The deployment of security is not encouraging though there has been threat of violence. Indefinite Dima Hasao district bandh from July 4

Samajit Haflongbar, the Chief executive Member, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council is voted out by hand raising of fifteen members at the special session held today at the session Hall of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council. HNLA militants surrender at Haflong
