Tiwa Autonomous Council Election result declared under Nagaon district


The result of the Tiwa Autonomous Council election held in 11 constituencies in Nagaon district on June 7 was declared today. Though the counting held under tight security, a minor dispute arose between the congress supporters and an Independent supporter, which was later on, controlled by the police. Among the 11 constituencies of Nagaon district, INC won 6 seats, Independent won 4 seats and BJP got only 1 seat. In 31 no.Lalungpar constituency, Madan Bordoloi of INC got 2125 votes and defeated independent candidate Jadab Basumatari who got 858 votes. In that constituency the independent candidate Sanjib Bordoloi got 666 votes and CPI(M) candidate Gulap Konwar got only 325 votes. In 24 no.Jongal Balahu constuency the independent candidate Pranab Jyoti Masarang defeated INC candidate Bagadhar Senapati. Pranab Jyoti Masarang got 2961 votes. In 30 no.Nabor Lalung constituency Sukleswari Bordoloi of INC won the seat .In 28 No Latumari Binanda Pator of Independent got 1293 votes and defeated his rival Biren Ch. Bordoloi who got only 768 votes. In 22 No Pukhuripar Constituency Bakul Dewri of INC won the seat. In 21 No Topakuchi Constituency Suraj Konwar of INC got highest votes . Suraj Konwar got 1879 votes and his next rival of AGP candidate Mukunda Bordoloi got 1438 votes. In 23 No – Jorabari constituency the independent candidate Anku Jyoti Borah won the seat .Ankur Jyoti Borah got 1405 votes. In 25 No Chahari Constituency ,the contest held between two candidates in which Bitumoni Rabha of BJp won the seat by defeating Archana Borah of INC with a difference of 1597 votes.In 20 No Barapujia constituency Independent candidate Dhaniram Lar got 2925 votes and his next rival Boloram Dekaraja got 1947 votes. At 27 no.Kakai constituency INC candidate Bijumoni Bordoloi won the seat by getting 1524 votes. At 29 no.Kamargaon Constituency Haren Deuri of INC got 1620 votes and won the seat by defeating the independent candidate Jugeswar Doloi who got only 1415 votes. The INC won the seats of 31 No Lalungpar, 30 no.Jongal Balahu, 22 no.Pukhuripar, 21 No Tapakuchi, 27 no.Kaki and 29 No Kamargaon. The only one seat which BJP candidate won was 25 no.Chahari.

The district youth coordinator of Tezpur NYK Mehbub Alam Laskar who is also in the additional charge Nehru Yuva Kendra Nagaon was arrested by the police on December 21 night from the complex of Youth Hostel Nagaon. The FIR was lodged at Itachali police outpost in Nagaon town by the women participants of Assam team of National Integration Camp held on December 15-19 at the Youth Hostel campus. An amount of Rupees Two Lakhs was looted at Borbazar area of Nagaon town today, at around 2.10 pm. The incident happened when this amount was in a bag , carried by Surendra Nath Bora, an engineer of Rupahihat Development Block under Nagaon DRDA. Bora told the media that he put the bag on his car while receiving a call on his mobile. In that fraction of time, someone took away the bag. Bora also told that he brought that amount for the payment from the LGB Bank Borbozar branch. Award winning Assamese film 'Aideo' directed by noted film maker Arup Manna, which got many appreciations after screening at both National and International film festivals was released on Thursday at Nagaon Press Club, Nagaon. The film is now available in DVD which was released by noted actor Gyanada Bora in the presence of distinguished guests.
