Army dedicates library to students in Udalguri

Continuing its efforts for peace and development of Udalguri area along with other parts of Assam, the 315 Field Regiment (KARGIL) of Red Horns Division inaugurated and dedicated a public Library at Kajiamati High School in Udalguri district.In a colourful function held at the premises of Kajiamati High School, Colonel SD Upadhyay, Commanding Officer of the Kargil Gunners, inaugurated the library under Operation Sadbhavana and urged the local people to utilise the facilities being made available by the Army and generate empowerment of the youth through the medium of quality education. Stressing the need for peace in the region, he exhorted the local people irrespective of caste, creed and religion to contribute for the development of Assam in all possible ways and assured that the Army would always stand by the people of Assam in the hours of need. He also outlined various other development activities being undertaken by the Army in the district.


The meeting was also addressed by Ganesh Musahari, Principal, Kajiamati High School who thanked Army for the construction of library in the school premise and urged all students to make full use of this facility. Student artistes of the school on the occasion enthralled the public with a colourful Bihu dance.A "Know Your Army" Display was organized on the occasion with the focus on making the children aware of Join The Army campaign with great success.

Protesting against sharp price rise of essential commodities in the country,more than five hundred people mostly woman staged dharna in front of Kalaigaon Revenue Circle Office today on September 2 at 11 am on the day of Bharat Bandh.The protesters blocked the main gate of Kalaigaon Revenue Circle Office preventing government officials and employees including Additional Deputy Commissioner Udalguri.
