Navaratri Mahotsav in Kuwait
Navaratri Mahotsav 2009 was inaugurated by the Indian Ambassador Shri Ajai Malhotra on 18 September at American International School ,Hawally.It was a ten day celebration ,starting from September 18-27,2009 .Though organised by "Samarpan"( the association of Gujarati community living in Kuwait), Indians in large number attended the Mahotsav. Navarati Mahotsav is organized every year by Samarpan. It was a nice to attempt to bring Indians together in a distant land. Thanks to Samarpan for such a noble endeavor.

The week long "Festival of India" , started on November 8,2009 , showcasing India's culture and art came to an end on November 14,2009. The festival was co-hosted by India's Ministry of Culture and the National Council of Culture,Arts and Letters(NCCAL),Kuwait. Such a "Festival of India" was held for the first time in Kuwait. The Assamese community in Kuwait celebrated Janmastami on September 11, at Chinmoy Dutta's house. The celebration was started with "Naam Prasang" which was performed by the Assamese ladies led by Bharati Sharma. It was followed by distribution of mah-prasad, payas, tea and snacks and dinner which consisted of paratha-sabzi. Everyone contributed in one way or the other.It was indeed very satisfying to be able to keep up and follow our tradition and culture in a distant land.
