Bir Chilagang Basumatary remembered
KOKRAJHAR: Peoples from all walks of life and organisation remembered Bir Chilagang Basumatary, now defunct founder chairman of Bodo Liberation Tiger (BLT), towards the Bodoland movement, who revolt with arms for the separate state of Bodoland within India, on his 23th death anniversary being organised at the burial place Bir Chilagang Puri at Bongshigaon on Sunday in Kokrajhar district.
Local people thronged to paid floral tribute at the cemetery of Basumatary at Bongshigaon, was organized by Bir Chilagang Martyrs Tomb Development Committee, Bongshigaon.
Ramani Basumatary, widow of late Basumatary paid floral tribute followed by leaders from various organisations. Basumatary survived by wife, two sons and a daughter. Basumatary was born on 1st February, 1959 at Bongshigaon and expired on June 28, 1997 due to prolonged illness.

KOKRAJHAR: The 27th Kokrajhar district level National Children’s Science Congress 2019 was held with day-long programme at Dotma Girls’ High School in Kokrajhar on Saturday. The Science Congress session saw large number of participation from different schools of the entire Kokrajhar district.
The programme was organised by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) and Kokrajhar district organising committee.
Nearly 1000 students from various schools participated the session. A science exhibition was also held with projects prepared by students.

United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) president UG Brahma hinted seat sharing possibility with BPF in the upcoming BTC general council elections to be held in 2020. He reacted to the statement of BPF president Hagrama Mohilary. Mohilary said to medi thta BPF is not going for seat sharing but unification with parties.
Speaking the media at Kokrajhar Press Club on Friday, Brahma said that there was only preliminary communication among both the parties regarding unification possibility ahead of elections.
He has said that UPPL is willing for seat sharing in the upcoming BTC election.
"Door is still open to discuss on the seat sharing and communication", Brahma said.
KOKRAJHAR: Chief of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Hagrama Mohilary said the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) will continue its alliance with BJP and AGP in the upcoming BTC election due next year.
Mohilary while attending at a meeting in Kokrajhar on Thursday, said this. Mohilary, who is also president of BPF said that his party will have its seat sharing with alliance partners and party is hopeful that BPF is getting majority supports in the council.
BTC was created in 2003 with four districts under Sixth scheduled of Indian constitution. BTC Legislative Assembly has 40 member house.

Members from Indian Medical Association (IMA) of Kokrajhar branch has carried out a candle light rally in Kokrajhar town on Tuesday evening in protest against the brutal killing of Dr Deben Dutta, a doctor in Teok tea estate hospital. The rally was started from Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital complex traversed to RNB Road, JD Road,fly over and concluded at the same point.
Medical fraternities have strongly protested the brutally attack and killing of Dr Dutta.
Doctor and medical staffs participated the rally with banner, placards and demanded strict actions to the culprits.
Jorhat police so far arrested 30 persons involved in the gruesome crime.
