Young businessman electrocuted
TANGLA, May 20: In an unfortunate turn of event a 32 year old reputed businessman Roshan Patowary an inhabitant of Ward No. 4 of Tangla town in Udalguri district was electrocuted to death while fitting an inverter battery at his residence at about 8 pm on Tuesday night.
Neighbours witnessed the body of the youth lying in the verandah of the house on Wednesday morning and informed police.
"The deceased was the son of Late Om Prakash Patowary ,we have informed the family members who resides in Guwahati as he was living alone and was propietor of M/S Om Trading dealing in Cooking Gas Appliances in Tangla town" said a neighbour.
A sub-inspector of Tangla Police Station, Upen Chandra Barman said ," The victim's body was found lying in the thresold of the door of the house and electrocution is suspected to be the immediate cause of his death. There is a visible injury in the index finger of the right hand. We have retrieved the body in the presence of an executive magistrate and will send it for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of the death."
The incident has casted a pall of gloom in the entire Tangla town and scores of his friends have paid tributes to the youth on his untimely demise.
Various socio-cultural organizations including Marwari Yuva Mancha ,Tangla Press Club have also condoled his untimely demise.

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.
The house belongs to Fakira Ansari, Manik Ali,Bhim Ram,Raj Kumar Prasad,Akon Rabha and Sankar Basfor.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.
