DRC's job to prepare the questionnaire
Guwahati: The city based scribes maintain good health as most of them have performed well in a recent blood screening camp conducted by Assam’s celebrated healthcare institute Dispur Hospitals. Nearly 80 scribes, age limit from 30 to 60 years, participated in the free camp, where their blood samples were collected to test thyroid, haemoglobin and sugar.
Only 11 scribes were diagnosed with high thyroid stimulating hormone (more than 7 milli-international units per liter or mIU/L), where four participants were with low haemoglobin (less than 12 gm/dl) and five with high random blood sugar (more than 140 mg/dl), said a statement from Guwahati Press Club, where the camp was organized last week. Dr Jayanta Bardoloi, managing director of Dispur Hospitals offered free consultations to the participating member-journalists, so that they can start medication in need. Interested scribes may arrive at his hospital in Ganeshguri locality of the city for necessary consultation and medications.

Dr Patta Radhakrishnan (gastroenterology surgeon) from SIMS Hospital conducted the last evening OPD clinic on 22 July at Guwahati Press Club (GPC) for the benefit of its members along with their dependents. Over 30 media persons participated in the camp, which was supervised by Binay Hatikakoti from the Chennai based Hospital. The next weekly clinic at the press club premises will be conducted by the city based Dispur Hospitals on 29 July. Monsoon misery refuses to die down in Assam where non stop landslide claimed yet another life in the capital city of Guwahati after weeklong incessant rains. The victim is a six-year-old girl on Monday morning in the Pankhaity area adjacent to the city as she was preparing to go to school. A huge heap of mud from a nearby hill slipped and buried her sending shockwave in the entire city. Her parents dug out her and rushed to a hospital where she was declared brought dead.
