National alliance opposes Citizenship Amendment Bill

Kokrajhar: The National Alliance of People's Movements (NAPM), an organisation of people’s welfare  has  strongly opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill-2016 and urged the BJP led NDA government to avoid such move to the greater interest of the country.

A 15 member delegation team of the alliance group are visiting across the country beginning from Gujrat since October 2 and to be continued till December 10. Members are comprising of all states of the nation which ahs been emphasized to meet people’s problems,issues,health,education and various aspects of the human living.The team is arrived in Kokrajhar on Friday at Bodofa House.

Delegations are included Meera Sanghamitra(Gujrat),Bhupendra Singh Rawat( Delhi), Sandeep Pandey(UP).

 ABSU member and citizens accorded warm welcome and felicitated with traditional Aronai.The team strongly feels that the India nation must be uplifted through healthy integration in all aspects like education,economic,industrilisation,human resources etc.  

  The alliance members termed that language or religion can't be criteria for the recognition to give citizenship for the peoples across the country. The citizenship bill must be stopped for the greater interest of the country.

 The alliance has emphasized a united and integrated country with harmony among all societies to build a healthy nation. They accused that the BJP led NDA government has been working only for corporate groups, not for common peoples of which why common masses are fcaing severe hardships in their living in the nation.

 The members of the alliance have also urged government to lift arms forces special powers act(AFSPA) in the NE states as peoples in the states are now wanting healthy and integrity.

 The alliance members also urged the centre to consider the smaller states demands across the country which will pave way new states. They supported the smaller state demand groups,which included Bodoland,Gorkhaland to pave way good governance.

ABSU president Promod Boro has welcomed the alliance group who are working for the welfare of the citizens across the country.He said that BJP led NDA government at the centre has failed to fulfill hopes and aspirations of the citizens and hence today social activists are come forward to work for the people’s welfare.

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district. Sonam Basumatary of Bodoland Territorial Region scored the lone goal against Lai Autonomous in 51 minutes of the second half. This led his team to win the tournament 1-0. Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language. Dr. Boro has been named for the translation of her book Hirimba (originally written in Assamese by Jayanti Gogoi) Presently, Boro is the head of the department of Bodo at Bodoland University. She has authored many books in Bodo language and contributed a lot to the uplift and development of Bodo literature. Amid a strict security vigil, arrested Gujrat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was brought to Kokrajhar police station and later produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court. Mevani was sent into police custody for three days. Mevani was arrested late last night in Gujarat by Assam Police after BJP leader Arup Kumar Dey filed an FIR with Kokrajhar police station. KOKRAJHAR: A Ganja smuggler was shot at by police in the Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district late Wednesday night. The incident happened  in Kokrajhar in Bishmuri. KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar. BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party of Luwahati, filed a complaint against  Mohilary, the former chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, at the court of CJM Kokrajhar for making derogatory remarks about him in February 2020. The bail was granted by Kokrajhar's chief judicial magistrate.
