NEW DELHI: Noted Assamese film maker Tapobrata Baruah passed away at a hospital in New Delhi descending a pall of gloom in the state’s cinema industry. He was 60.
Barua, who was undergoing treatment at the Mulchand Hospital in the capital where he died in the wee hours on Tuesday. His wife Mridula Baruah, the prominent actor was also beside him when the end came.
Within a short spell of time Barua earned huge applause in the film industry as he directed Bowari in the 80s where his wife and Biju Phukan played prominent role.
His body is being flown to his home in Guwahati for last rites. Many film actors, directors, organizations and individuals have condoled Barua’s sudden death and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
