Culprit held, now cry for capital punishment
NAMRUP: People thronged in thousands on the National Highway No 37 in Moran demanding capital punishment of Rajen Hardi whom police have arrested a week after he allegedly raped and killed a minor in Tiloi.
With banners and play cards local residents in large number blocked the busy road in between Sivasagar and Dibrugarh at 11 in the morning for more than 2 hours to mount pressure on the authorities to send the culprit to the gallows.
Hours after the police apprehended Rajen from Lepetkota area the people in the entire area thronged the high way demanding justice for the minor whom Rajen raped and killed before dumping in a river.
According to allegations, Rajen took away the five year old girl child to her mother who was in the nearest hospital. But he instead raped and killed her and went underground on April 2.
Three days after the incident police and local residents recovered the body from a waterbody. The authority has placed the police station officer in charge for failing to nab Rajen. On Monday morning Rajen was apprehended.
The police men probing the case has been interrogating him.

Namrup: Santak Army Camp of DAO Division and Assam Police arrested three NSCN(R) cadres from Halwating in Sivsagar District on Wednesday. The arrested tri are Youngai (39), Pendum (42) and Nang Sung (35) - all resident of Mokokchung, Nagaland. Police recovered one Chinese Pistol, one magazine and two mobile phones. Namrup: Army DAO Division apprehended a NSCN (K) cadre at Namtola in Dibrugarh district on Saturday night. The cadre is identified as Sgt Maj Akhat Konyak of NSCN (K) of Mon district of Nagaland. Army seized extortion notes, mobile phone along with incriminating document. After interrogation, it is revealed that he has been actively involved in the extortion activities in Mon district of Nagaland. The cadre was later on handed over to Sonari police.

NAMRUP: The Namtola Police and Sonari Army Camp under DAO Division in a joint operation apprehended one ULFA (I) Linkman from Namtola area on Friday. Acting on a tip-off the security forces carried out an opeartion and swooped on one Romen Borgohain(34) son of Tarun Borgohain a resident of Hathi Camp under Namtola police station in Charaideo district. Nine live rounds of ammunition of 7.65mm calibre and 11gm Brown sugar were also recovered from the possession of the ultra.
