MARGHERITA: Hundreds of people hit the streets in Margherita on Friday
outlining a slew of demands which they want to be fulfilled at an
earlier date.
Organized by AJYCP’s Margherita unit, the protesters thronged Segunbari
NH 38 Road shouting slogans in support of their demands.
More than 200 people took out the protest rally from North Margherita
Rangamancha and blocked the road for more than 2 hours shouting slogans
against Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, MLA Bhaskar Sharma alleging
that the duo have failed to address their grievances.
AJYCP’s Tinsukia leader Kanchan Bora said, “many areas including
Machangpani and Longgaon are on the brink of collapse because of soil
erosion of the Buri dehing river. But Bhaskar Sharma is least bothered.
The vital portion of the NH 38 in Margherita is in dilapidated
condition. Sarma remains silent. Is there a government?”
The protesters further demands step to rein in the illicit liquor
traders of Margherita, ensuring availability of drinking water in the
entire area.
Later, the sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the
