SC asks for affidavit on Rakesh Paul
NEW DELHI: The Supreme court has asked the Assam Government to file an affidavit on the bail petition moved by Rakesh Paul whom police arrested in a new case after he procured bail from the earlier cases.
A division bench of the top court comprising Justice Adarsh Goyal and Justice UULalit who heard the arrested APSC chairman’s bail plea directed the government to file an affidavit to hear it again in the first week of January.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday extended by a months its 30 June deadline for the publication of the final National Register of Citizens (NRC) draft. The bench gave the extension after the Centre and the state NRC coordinator agreed to publish it within the new 30 July deadline. A bench of justices Ranjan Gogoi and RF Nariman considered the report of Assam NRC coordinator Prateek Hajela and extended the deadline. NEW DELHI: BJP central leadership is understood to have cleared the decks for the Assam cabinet expansion at the end of an hour long meeting between Amit Shah and Sarbananda Sonowal in New Delhi on Friday. Senior party leaders who refused to be named told Assam Times that Shah and Sonowal finalized the induction of eight new members in the expended cabinet where three sitting ministers would be dropped.
