A major landslide near Karong of the district has cut off Manipur’s supply-line through Nagaland.
Torrential rain has hit normal life in most parts of Senapati. Flash floods and landslides wreaked havoc in the hill district where standing crops in large tracks of paddy fields were damaged in the past few days.
Traffic movement is now unsafe on the landslide-prone National Highway 2, Imphal-Dimapur route after the landlside near Karong, an official report said on Thursday.
The NH section has been cleared of debris from the landslide but still tricky for vehicular movement, the report added.
In the meantime, one man was killed under the debris of landslide near the district council headquarters yesterday. He was taking part in the debris clearing work when the fatal incident occurred. The man buried after the landslide triggered by continuous heavy rainfall. The body was later recovered.
On September 19, flash floods wreaked havoc in many parts of Manipur following continuous rain that started to lash the state from September 16 night bringing woes to people.
