New step to promote Manipur tourism
The Manipur government has set a target to complete tourist circuits at Imphal, Moirang, Khongjom and Moreh under North East Circuit of Swadesh Darshan Scheme at a cost of Rs 8,966 lakh during the period 2017-18.
Under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, ‘spiritual circuit’ will be developed at Shri Govindaji Temple, Shri Bijoy Govindajee Temple, Shri Gopinath Temple, Shri Bungshibodon Temple and Shri Kaina Temple consisting of 64 works—26 in Kangla and 38 in Moreh, Phubala and Ningthoukhong at a cost of Rs 5,380 lakh.
According to the publication by Manipur State Planning Department, the development of integrated mega tourist circuits at Marjing Polo, Kaina and Khebaching at a cost of Rs 367 lakh will be completed during 2017-18.
It said construction of Khongjom War Memorial Complex, Khongjom at a cost of Rs 261 lakh will also be completed during the said period.
The project cost of development of eco-tourism project at Cheirao Ching is Rs 1,504 while development of cave tourism at Khangkhui is Rs 750 lakh. The cost of construction of guest house at Shirui village, Ukhrul is Rs 500 lakh. These projects are also included in the list of projects to be finished during the above period.
Inauguration of Andro Tourist Park, Tourist Resort at Sendra Hillock, Water Sports Complex at Takmu and other tourism facilities in adjoining areas of Bishnupur will take place during this targeted period, said the Planning Department.
