Tribute paid to Dr.Bhupen Hazarika at Kalaigaon

People Kalaigaon observed 91st birth anniversary of Sudha Kanta Dr.Bhupen Hazarika on September 8.The programme was organized by the Bhupen Hazarika statue committee at Kalaigaon town. Hundreds of people offered floral tribute to the statue of Sudha Kantha since morning 9.A cultural programme on a few of the legendary songs of Bhupen Hazarika titled "Xuror Panchoi" was inaugurated by Biraj Barua,Circle Officer, Kalaigaon Revenue Circle at 10.30 am.Speaking on the occasion,he thanked organizers for erection of the life size statue of Dr.Bhupen Hazarika at Kalaigaon last year in 20016.He also requested all to learn and spread the message of cultural heritage of Assamese society.

DN Hazarika, ADC Udalguri cum SDO (Civil) I/C of Bhergaon sub-division also attended the ceremony as the chief guest. He appealed all to follow the teachings of Bhupenda and to fight all menaces unitedly to save Assam and Assamese society before singing two most popular songs of Dr.Hazarika.Several local artists namely-child singer Mayurdip Kashyap,Tulika Bora etc sang several popular songs of Bhupenda to much delight of people present. Himakshi Das performed patriotic dance in the tune of Bhupen Hazarika.

Several distinguished people namely-Cinoo Barua,Kami Ram Saharia, Mahendra Saikia, Nabin Chandra Boro etc attended the days programme which was anchored by Tarun Azad Deka.Kamal Prasad Sarma offered vote of thanks at the end.
