Bengali body demands CBI probe

The All India Bengali Youth Student's Federation (AIBYSF) and All Assam Bengali Youth Student's Federation (BBYSF) will stage sit-in-demonstration on September 7 at Dispur last gate in Guwahati demanding CBI probe into the Silapothar and Nagaon incident.

Speaking the News Conference held at Amala Bhawan in Kokrajhar on Sunday, Shyamal Sarkar, president of All India Bengali Youth Student's Federation and Deepak Dey, president of the Assam state federation demanded stern actions against incidents of Silapothar and Nagaon in the state.

The federation have condemned the Nagaon incident which had created resented among the citizens, said that it was created by some so called activities to indulge misunderstanding in the state. They accused of Chief Minister, who had well known about both incidents held at Silapothar and Nagaon, but yet he has been keeping silence into situations.

Many engineering students staged dharna at the Bineswar Brahma Engineering College premises in Kokrajhar on Thursday demanding affiliation under Guwahati University without any delay.  Talking to Assam Times, agitating students asked the government to stop delaying tactics which would leave their career prospect in dire uncertainty. BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary is well prepared to quit the office if one proves the involvement of former BLT rebels in the assassination of Lafikul Islsm Ahmed. Talking to reporters in Kokrakhar on Wednesday, Mohilary said the ongoing probes by SIT and CBI would be able to negate the speculations. “I am ready to resign as BTC chief if one proves the involvement of the former rebels.”

Hundreds of venture school teachers from BTAD areas staged a five-hour dharna in front of DC office in Kokrajhar on Tuesday demanding steps to provincialize their schools and to, amend the DISE code as soon as possible. Organized by All BTC Venture Primary Teachers Association, the sit in was participated by the teachers of 2065 venture schools (Lower Primary and Upper Primary) in four districts of BTAD.
