Guru Purnima celebrated at MVM Tangla

Synchronizing with centenary birth anniversary of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi,Guru Purnima was celebrated with gaiety and religious fervour at the Maharishi Vidya Mandir (MVM) School at Tangla here on Sunday.Floral tributes were paid to Guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi followed by a guru poojan .The function was started with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, Boliram Deka eminent social worker. Principal Rajeshri Bora threw light on the life and teachings of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and his contribution in blessing his devotees on the educational and spiritual fronts.

Gunendra Chaliha President of Eksharan Bhagawati Samaj Darrang attending as key speaker on the occasion, spoke on the teacher-student relationship and called for spreading the message of humanity.He said that,"Vedic teachings being imparted to the younger generation in MVM schools was a ray of hope for a better tomorrow."The MVM students recited Vedic hymns, verses from the Bhagwat Gita and other Vedic scriptures.Dharanidhar Medhi attended tje event as guest of honour.A session of transcedental meditation was also held. Group song and dance by students mesemerized the gathering.

Udalguri police apprehends robber

UDALGURI: The Udalguri police led by DSP(Hq), Moidul Islam and assisted by Udalguri O.C, Narayan Patangia apprehended one Basanta Rabha from Sastrapara area under Harisinga P.S in Udalguri on Friday.The accused is allegedly involved in a broad daylight robbery of seven lakhs from two oil depot workers near Ambagaon of Harisinga on July 24 last.According to the workers they were accosted by a group of two men who snatched the bag containing the money.Though the workers chased the robbers they fled the scene. Man trampled to death by wild jumbos

UDALGURI: The Indo-Bhutan border villages in Udalguri district-region fraught with human-animal conflict and bloodshed and continue to witness brutality of wild jumbos.  In yet another incident, one Mardia Munda (25), a tea garden labour , was trampled to death by wild jumbos at Nalanadi under Dimakuchi PS in Udalguri district on Wednesday.Reportedly, the labour was on his way back home after plucking green leaves when he was confronted by wild jumbo trampling him to death. The local villagers witnessed his soul-less body at about 3 pm when the police and forest officials reached the spot. His body has been retrieved and sent for post-mortem.

TANGLA: The Tangla Police,solving the kidnapping case of a minor girl who was missing since June 27 last,apprehended four persons and rescued the minor girl on Sunday.
