Bhasa Divas observed

16th Bhasa Divas was observed in different parts of Assam on August 20, the day of incorporation of the Nepali language into the 8th schedule of Constitution of India in the year 1992, organised by All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU). The central programme of Bhasa Divas celebration was held in Chumangata in Baska district of BTAD.

AAGSU leaders recalled the contributions of all who fought for the recognition of the Nepali language. Addressing as the Chief Guest AAGSU President Dil Bahadur Limboo rather speaking on the Nepali language caught the attention of the people speaking on the deportation of Bangladeshi and illegal migrants issue. AAGSU is in favour of recognition and deportation all illegal migrants and foreigners settled in Assam and it supports the mechanism of AASU said Limboo. Assam cannot be turned into dumping ground of illegal foreigners and AAGSU stands with AASU in this social cause, he added.

Leena Doley appointed SP Nagoan

Biswanath District SP APS Officer Leena Doley  is appointed as Nagaon Superintendent of Police (SP). She will take charge from Dhruba Bora, Additional SP, Nagaon (HQ), who was given the temporary charge of SP of the district after celebrity  IPS officer Anand Mishra SP Nagoan was transferred and attached to Assam Police Headquaters.  Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had ordered Mishra's transfer following  officer’s challenging  comments in connection with one man committee report of Nagoan Police shooting case of AASU leader Kirti Kamal Bora. Sahara Hangma Subba, a sixteen-year-old teenager from Sombarey, West Sikkim, won the Miss India Teen beauty peagent held at Noida near NCR Delhi on Monday. Top Naga rebel ailing, hospitalized

Guwahati: Top NSCN-IM leader Thuingaleng Muivah is unwell. He was  airlifted to the Christian Institute of Health and Research in Dimapur in the afternoon following complaints of vomiting and diarrhea on Friday.  A team of experts has been attending on the Naga leader.  The hospital, however,  has not released any bulletin on the status.  According to sources, the details could be ascertained only after a few tests.   Naga civil societies have prayed for early recovery of Muivah who has been carrying out the process to settle the vexed political issue.
