Seminar on NE economy

A national seminar on the topic of economic insects of NE India thrust on recent advances in Vanya Silks has started with two-day programme scheduled at Science College auditorium in Kokrajhar highlighting economical aspects in the region.

Kampa Borgoyary, BTC chief attended as chief guest in the inaugural session and lighted the lamp to inaugurate the national seminar.

Over 400 participants including resource persons from different parts of the country are participating in the seminar. It was organized by central muga eri research & training Institute, central silk board, ministry of textiles, govt of India and directorate of sericulture, BTC, Kokrajhar.

 Resource persons from IIT Kharakpur, IIT Guwahati, Guwahati University, Bodoland University, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, RTRS Imphal participated and presented papers on the various subject and topics.
Borgoyary said the seminar has been organized for the first ever in BTC region to gain ushering of sericulture department. He said that the seminar on the economic insects will highlight aspects and economic development among society. He said that Bodoland region has a potential of sericultural aspects in the country.

 Jogesh Deury, director of Sericulture department, BTC said that this is a national seminar on the ushering sericulture department where resource persons from different educational institutions are participating. BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary will grace as chief guest on the concluding day of the national seminar tomorrow.

Several organisations including AAKRASU and ABAMSU have reportedly, called a 12-hour-long Assam bandh on January27 in protest against proposed UTC for BTAD. These organisations are apprehensive that the Union government is going to upgrade the BTC as UTC. Already, they have warned the Union government to abdicate such move.
Several organistions have expressed resentment over the Centre's move to upgrade the Bodo Territorial Council as Union Territorial Council. KOKRAJHAR: Citizens in Lower Assam districts including  Bodoland Territorial Council  have expressed happiness and gladness having found resumed of internet services today after eight days blockade. The internet service was found resumed at 9 am that saw smilling and happiness environment amongst the citizens in the region.
