Robbery racket busted in Raha
Police achieved a major breakthrough into a number of recent deadly dacoity incidents in Nagaon during a massive operation Raha on Wednesday .
Acting on a tip off, a team of Nagaon and Raha police conducted a joint raid at a house in Manipurtup area at night and recovered cash along with many valuable materials. All these are learnt to have been robbed during the last one month.
Police arrested the house owner Kermot Ali and some stunning revelations are believed to have surfaced during the interrogation which is going on.
Notably, at least ten dacoity incidents have rockef the central Assam district forcing the police to step up vigil at night.
In Raha area alone, three incidents' of robbery generated no less anger against police for failure to nab the dacoits who have been unleashing terror in the entire district.

The logjam over the proposed AIIMS in Assam refuses to die down with the National Green Tribunal on Tuesday directing the authorities not to start on the on grand project at Changsari till a final settlement is reached. Hearing a petition in Kolkota on Tuesday, the court refused to withdraw its earlier instruction to the government not to start construction in Changsari. The interim judgment is much to the delight of the people in Raha who have been vehemently opposing the premier hospital in the outskirt of Guwahati. The agitation for the proposed AIIMS at Raha is set to take a violent turn if the local organizations here are to be believed. Noted citizens and many local organizations here at a meeting decided to mount more pressure on the Government. Speakers in the meeting threatened to go to any extent if their demand is not properly looked into where the Government would have to shoulder the responsibility. Normal life comes to a grinding halt in central Assam on Friday following a 12 hour bandh demanding the proposed AIIMS in Raha. Vehicles were off from the streets in Nagaon and Morigaon districts where shops and markets, banks and offices remained closed under the impact of the bandh. The bandh is peaceful and there is no report of any untoward incident during the bandh hours. Notably, the erstwhile Congress government proposed to set up the AIIMS campus in Raha. People in large number from Raha stagwed dharma in Dispur on Monday reiterating the demand to set up the proposed AIIMS in the area.
