The role of the student leaders and organizations came up for a thought provoking discussion when students, educationists and prominent citizens participated at an open meeting in Raha on Sunday.
Organized by the local AASU unit, the open meeting stressed the role of the state’s influential student organization to take lead in the creation of a fresh atmosphere in the field of education where every citizen would try to eliminate illiteracy for good.
Raha area AASU president Sanjay Kumar Kakoty moderated the open discussion where the speakers asked the students to help the society get a clean image.
Local resident and educationist Hiranya Narayan Bora hoisted the AASU centenary flag at the Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Auditorium to be followed by the homage to the martyr's by Puren Das, Mridul Hazarika and Prahlad Masrong.
Raha AASU general secretary Pankaj Hazarika and former student leader Biren Bhattacharya also graced on the occasion at Raha, one of the one hundred places AASU allowed to hold the centenary celebration.
