Shillong, Nov 27: The North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) is set to host the IIC Regional Meet 2025 tomorrow, November 28, bringing together innovators, students, entrepreneurs, and faculty from across the Northeast. Supported by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) and AICTE, the meet is expected to draw close to 500 participants, making it one of the region’s most significant innovation-focused gatherings.
The one-day Regional Meet, to be held at the Multi-Convention Hall, aims to strengthen the Northeast’s innovation and start-up ecosystem by offering a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and showcasing institutional achievements. This edition forms part of a nationwide series being organised at 26 locations.
The inaugural session will feature prominent dignitaries, including academic leaders and industry experts. Chief Guest Smt. Saloni Verma, IAS, Executive Director of the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA) and MD, PRIME Hub, will address the gathering and highlight opportunities for young innovators in the region. Guest speakers include Prof. I. Hussain, Mr. Triailukya Dutta, and Sh. Kunaljeet Singh, who are expected to underscore the region’s potential for innovation-driven development.
This year’s theme, “Vocal for Local,” will take shape through the Swadesh Udyami Bazaar, where entrepreneurs and students will display locally developed products and innovations. The programme will also include best-practice sharing sessions, Training of Trainers for Innovation Ambassadors, masterclasses by ecosystem enablers, and one-to-one mentoring and pitching—opportunities that can advance selected teams into the next round for AICTE funding and incubation assistance.
By hosting the Regional Meet, NEHU continues to strengthen its role as a key hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in the Northeast. The organisers have invited institutions and budding entrepreneurs to participate and take advantage of the free exhibition stalls available at the event.
