RAHA: A day-long awareness programme on fisheries for school and college students was organised by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), North East Regional Centre, Guwahati, at the auditorium of the College of Fisheries, AAU, Raha on Tuesday.
The event was organised in connection with the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotav (AKAM) under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) in collaboration with the College of Fisheries, AAU, Raha.
The programme started with the lighting of a lamp by Dr. Sonashree Brahma, Circle Officer, Raha.
Dr. Binod Kalita, Dean, College of Fisheries delivered the inaugural speech while Dr. Ashim Kumar Borah, officer-in-charge of the NFDB regional centre, explained the purpose of the event.
Dr. Rajdeep Dutta, assistant professor, College of Fisheries, Dr. Susanta Borthakur, professor, CoF, Dr. Bhuban Chandra Chutia, professor, Nagaon College took part in the event as guest lecturers at the Technical Session.
Students from different educational institutions of Raha including College of Fisheries students, Raha Higher Secondary School and Raha college students were present on the occasion.
A field trip to the ornamental pilot project at Dhing , Nagaon was also arranged for the students among other events.
