Synchronizing with the nation wide observation of Vigilance week the Tangla College faculties in association of IQAC cell of the college organised an awareness programme titled "Public Participation in promoting Integrity and Eradicating Corruption " at the conference hall of the college. The programme was presided over by Prabha Baruah HOD Dept of Education. Rabindra Kr. Sarmah HOD Dept. of English graced the event as resource person. Speaking on the ocassion Sarmah said"Corruption is the most heinous crime that has gripped the society. " "Corruption is a crime more heinous than all other social crimes. History has witnessed French revolution in the year 1789 due to prevailing corruption in those days in France. " Sarmah said.
"With non-violence means we need to combat the menace of corruption by making the people aware "Sarmah added. Sarmah also stressed on the need for eradicating corruption at individual level. He also administered the vigilance pledge to all the students and staffs of the college. The purpose of the meeting was earlier conveyed by Dr. Satyendra Sarmah.
Mintu Pathak HOD Dept. of Politics said to eradicate corruption it is important to be aware of our rights an an individual level approach is needed. He also quoted the life stories of Hazrat Muhammed to the students. "Corruption has turned into a culture.We should uphold moral values only then corruption can be eradicated " Pathak added. "Someone need to be the whistle blower.
We are responsible for today's scenario of corruption as we have given space to corruption . We should stand on moral ethics at individual level ."Pathak said. The resource persons also stressed on RTI as a legal tool of the common citizen to whistleblow corruption.
He exhorted the student community to stand up on moral ethics and be a good human being. An interactive session was also held where the queries of the students relating to corruption where discussed.
The programme which was iniated earlier by a chorus in tribute to Bhupen Hazarika on the ocassion of his death anniversary by the students of Department of Assamese was attended by a hall packed full of students of the college.
