Central Assam bandh on Aug 12

Miffed at the decision to set up the proposed AIIMS in North Guwahati, many local organizations and individuals in Raha will stage dharna in Dispur on August 8.

Disclosing this at a press conference in Guwahati on Thursday, the Raha AIIMS Demand Committee leaders said that they will not remain calm unless and until the proposed hospital is set up in the central Assam area.

They said that they would stage dharna at Last Gate in Dispur on August 8 to mount pressure on Dispur to force the Centre to set up the premier hospital in Raha.

Further, they said, many organizations in Raha will enforce 12 hour central Assam bandh on August 12 to outline the demand. “We must not miss the proposed AIIMS. This is our demand. We are ready to face any eventuality,” said the AIIMS demand committee leaders.
