Raha revives AIIMS hopes

Now its confirm. The proposed AIIMS us not coming up in Jalah in the outskirt of Guwahati reviving no less ray of hope for the people in Raha where it was initially proposed.

The Raha AIIMS Demand Committee on Saturday submitted a memorandum before Union health minister JP Nadda urging the government to propose the country’s premier hospital in central Assam.

The Union minister accepted the memorandum and assured the committee members of consideration if their demands.

The minister recently told Parliament that the government has yet to finalise the site for the proposed hospital in Assam.

Nagaon accused loses tractor dealership

Raju Das, the Nagaon incident accused who deals in tractors in the central Assam district has lost his dealership.  In a letter, the International Tractors Limited has confirmed the action against him saying that the company will always prefer the local sentiments.  Das was the main accused in the entire incidents where his close associates assaulted a group of former ULFA rebels as they were raising funds to feed the flood hit people.

Ultimatum ends; AASU on satyagraha

AASU’s 12 hour ultimatum is over. Soobodh Biswas is still on the run 5 days after he incited the violence in Silapothat where a local AASU office was ransacked. The state’s influential student body is on a statewide Satyagraha in protest against the failure to nab the Silapothar culprit. AASU workers in the district and sub divisional headquarters started satyagraha from morning on Friday raising doubts over the sincerity of the government to hold Biswas. AASU served the 12 hour ultimatum to the chief minister on Wednesday.

The protest over the Silapothar incident refused to die down across the state where more and more people have come out demanding immediate arrest of the culprit. Salute to martyrs

The supreme sacrifice of the Assam agitation martyrs was remembered with deep reverence in Raha on Wednesday when the central Assam areas observed the Assam Agitation Martyrs Day.AASU activists in the area thronged the local Swahid Bedi and paid floral tribute to the martyrs in the morning. Shivratri in Raha

Shiv temples in Raha area in Nagaon district are also teeming with many devotees along with many other places on Friday on the occasion of Shivratri. Blame Himanta for exam bungling

Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is facing no less ire after the HSLC faux pas where many examination centres received Assamese and social science question papers instead if mathematics. AASU leaders and activists in many places burnt Sarma’s effigy alleging his inability to smoothly conduct the examination at 855 centres. AASU on hunger strike

One and a half months have passed since the state started the new academic year. But the students gave yet to receive all textbook free of cost from the government.
