We are proud of you Mr. Mahadev Deka for bringing laurels to our state. Though miles away from home, such rare feat of achievement by any person from our native really makes the banner of Assam fly high and higher. Congrats once again!

This is last year news. He was runner up in Mr Universe 2008. Just 2 days back this year 2009, he has won the Mr. Universe. What about that news? Who has written these comments so late, after 1 year??

he is the trainer of our gym,,,i c him everyday,,,he is a very good human being..we r very much proud to c him...bt at the same time it feels so bad that the day he won the title the whole i was sittin in front of tv to c him...bt not a single news chanel has covered this story...except a local news chanel ie NE TV

It is indeed a proud moment for India and Assam, I am overjoyed by this exciting news and in fact took the pride in informing lots of my friends at office about this glorious achievement by Mr Mahadev Deka. I would like to congratulate Mr Mahadev Deka and would like him to reach more landmarks in coming years.

Its a great honour and respect to all the North eastern people...n an enthusiasm for all the youth..Mr Mahadev Deka showed us the way that everythig is possible... hope more of us (North east) folks was inspired by his success....n will always believe tht we also can reach the goal one day. I remember the first time I met Mahadeb sir. I had joined a gym for the first time in my life, and by sheer luck, he happened to be my coach. On my first day, it was he who saw me crash on my chest after 2 pushups, I was that weak. But then he worked his magic, and in 6 - 8 months, I was working out with significantly heavier weights each time, culminating in a point where, though I would not have qualified for any tournament, I was as fit as an athlete. So here's a big thank you to Mr. Mahadeb Deka. We'll always be proud of you, sir :)

HC summons Bhumidhar Barman

Jiten Gogoi denies involvement in secret killing

MLA Jiten Gogoi of Bokakhat, whose name appeared in the Justice KN Saikia Commission report pertaining to the 'secret killings', has expressed serious concern and said he would move even the Supreme Court to clear his name from the report.Expressing his grave resentment over his name being associated with the issue, Gogoi alleged that Justice Saikia never met him even for once during the enquiry.Terming his indictment as intentional, he spoke about his determination to take the matter to the court and to institute a defamation suit.Gogoi also apprised newsmen gathered at the Bokakhat Circuit House premises that when secret killings took place, he was neither an ULFA or SULFA man....

Group clash in the city: 12 killed, curfew in city

A string of group clash that leaves twelve people dead, as many as one hundred people injured has forced the authority to clamp curfew in the city on Saturday. The condition of thirty is reported to be critical.The violence began as soon as the Advasi people in large numbers were holding a rally demanding Scheduled Tribe status for the community.The Adivasi protesters damaged as many as 150 vehicles while these were plying in the Beltola areas. Assam hosting International Tea Convention

Assam is holding its first ever International Tea Convention at the Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium in Sarusajai. As many as 33 delegates from across the world are attending the grand event. The praise on the quality of Assam is pouring on. Gogoi meets Baalu, discusses road projects

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi called on Union minister of shipping, road transport and highways, Thiru T.R. 48 hr central Assam bandh continues

Normal life in central Assam is partially disrupted following the 48 hour bandh call by three Tiwa students bodies from Monday morning..The roads are wearing a desert look from early in the morning.
