A major train accident was averted in Morigaon district on Monday. He was a villager who stopped an express passenger train on finding that the sleeper of a railway track missing at a place near Thekeraguri railway station.According to information, the villager waved his clothes tied to a bamboo pole to signal the approaching Guwahati-Dimapur Jansatabdi Express train to stop. He came to notice the sleepers below five-meter stretch of the railway tracks missing while crossing the tracks.The speeding train managed to stop at about 500 metres from the location, sources said.
