We are proud of you Mr. Mahadev Deka for bringing laurels to our state. Though miles away from home, such rare feat of achievement by any person from our native really makes the banner of Assam fly high and higher. Congrats once again!

This is last year news. He was runner up in Mr Universe 2008. Just 2 days back this year 2009, he has won the Mr. Universe. What about that news? Who has written these comments so late, after 1 year??

he is the trainer of our gym,,,i c him everyday,,,he is a very good human being..we r very much proud to c him...bt at the same time it feels so bad that the day he won the title the whole i was sittin in front of tv to c him...bt not a single news chanel has covered this story...except a local news chanel ie NE TV

It is indeed a proud moment for India and Assam, I am overjoyed by this exciting news and in fact took the pride in informing lots of my friends at office about this glorious achievement by Mr Mahadev Deka. I would like to congratulate Mr Mahadev Deka and would like him to reach more landmarks in coming years.

Its a great honour and respect to all the North eastern people...n an enthusiasm for all the youth..Mr Mahadev Deka showed us the way that everythig is possible... hope more of us (North east) folks was inspired by his success....n will always believe tht we also can reach the goal one day. I remember the first time I met Mahadeb sir. I had joined a gym for the first time in my life, and by sheer luck, he happened to be my coach. On my first day, it was he who saw me crash on my chest after 2 pushups, I was that weak. But then he worked his magic, and in 6 - 8 months, I was working out with significantly heavier weights each time, culminating in a point where, though I would not have qualified for any tournament, I was as fit as an athlete. So here's a big thank you to Mr. Mahadeb Deka. We'll always be proud of you, sir :)

Students' Protests Rock Delhi

ISF (IM) takes responsibility of serial blast in Assam

A terror group named ISF (IM) takes responsibility of the serial blasts yesterday. According to a satellite channel News Live, they have received a SMS from the number 98646-93690, ISF (IM) which read as: "We, ISF(IM) take responsibility of Thursday's blasts. We warn all of Assam and India for situation like this in future.We thank all our holy members and partners...Amin'. According to the channel, the number is registered to one Nazir Ahmed of Moirabari in Morigaon district of Assam.

Govt confirms blast toll goes up to 77

The death toll in Assam’s serial blasts has gone up to 77 on Friday with 11 more people succumbing to their injuries overnight. Confirming this official sources here said eight people died in Guwahati, which now alone accounts for 41 deaths. Three others succumbed to their injuries in Barpeta taking the toll there to 15. Worried Centre rushes Patil, NSG to Assam

The Centre on Friday expressed grave concern over the serial blasts in Assam a day after the state was rocked by serial blasts leaving 75 dead and over 470 injured. Rattled by the state’s biggest ever serial blast in Assam, the Centre held a cabinet meeting which asked Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to leave for Guwahati on Friday itself. PM announces ex-gratia

The Centre has announced a financial assistance of Rs.1 lakh each to the next of kin of those killed in the serial blasts.According to PMO release, the ex-gratia relief has been sanctioned from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund and that a sum of Rs 50,000 would be given to those seriously injured in the blasts.Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said the government would take all possible steps to bring the perpetrators to justice."We will take all possible steps to maintain peace and bring the perpetrators of such acts to justice," he said in a message."I am confident that the people of India will rise unitedly against these attempts to disturb peace and harmony and to...

Blast: govt clueless; ULFA denies role

The serial blast on Thursday has touched off a seismic wave of reaction throughout Assam. The Assam government is remaining clueless while the United Liberation Front of Asom(ULFA) has straightly denied its role in these strings of blasts. Boxed by the circumstances, chief minister Tarun Gogoi was hurried to talk to the media men admitting the failure of the intelligentsia network. The serial blasts that shook the north eastern state of Assam on October 30, 2008 should be condemned by one and all.
