We are proud of you Mr. Mahadev Deka for bringing laurels to our state. Though miles away from home, such rare feat of achievement by any person from our native really makes the banner of Assam fly high and higher. Congrats once again!

This is last year news. He was runner up in Mr Universe 2008. Just 2 days back this year 2009, he has won the Mr. Universe. What about that news? Who has written these comments so late, after 1 year??

he is the trainer of our gym,,,i c him everyday,,,he is a very good human being..we r very much proud to c him...bt at the same time it feels so bad that the day he won the title the whole i was sittin in front of tv to c him...bt not a single news chanel has covered this story...except a local news chanel ie NE TV

It is indeed a proud moment for India and Assam, I am overjoyed by this exciting news and in fact took the pride in informing lots of my friends at office about this glorious achievement by Mr Mahadev Deka. I would like to congratulate Mr Mahadev Deka and would like him to reach more landmarks in coming years.

Its a great honour and respect to all the North eastern people...n an enthusiasm for all the youth..Mr Mahadev Deka showed us the way that everythig is possible... hope more of us (North east) folks was inspired by his success....n will always believe tht we also can reach the goal one day. I remember the first time I met Mahadeb sir. I had joined a gym for the first time in my life, and by sheer luck, he happened to be my coach. On my first day, it was he who saw me crash on my chest after 2 pushups, I was that weak. But then he worked his magic, and in 6 - 8 months, I was working out with significantly heavier weights each time, culminating in a point where, though I would not have qualified for any tournament, I was as fit as an athlete. So here's a big thank you to Mr. Mahadeb Deka. We'll always be proud of you, sir :)

Ram Singh set to join pro talk faction

A Sivasagar court remanded dreaded ULFA leader Ram Singh to four days police custody on Thursday. ULFA cadre killed in Kamrup dist

A day after the alleged stage-managed arrest of ULFA top gun Ram Singh, an ULFA militant was killed in an encounter with police on Thursday in lower Assam's Kamrup district. According to information, the decased has yet to be identified, exchanged fire with the police at Maujuli village. However, none from the security forces were injured in the encounter. A M-20 pistol and an Australian grenade were recovered from the slain ultra. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

No silver lining on Langpi logjam

Assam and Meghalaya on Thursday have failed to get a silver lining in the border dispute centering around Langpi. Participating in the meeting at Byrnihat, Meghalaya Chief Secretary Ranjan Chatterjee has urged his Assam Assam counterpart to withdraw the demand for Langpi saying the area belongs to them.Assam Chief Secretary P C Sarma has asked Meghalaya to stick to the findings of the Chu Chandra Committee set up by the Supreme Court. According to police, Thungri Boro and Dinesh Boro are the main culprits behind the blasts that shocked Kacharighat and Panbazar on October 30. ULFA and NDFB have been helping Bhutan Maoist topple the Bhutanese government if the arrested rebel from the neighbouring country is to be believed. Major blast averted in Rangiya; culprit caught red handed

The people of Rangiya has foiled the bid of a major blast when they caught red handed two bike lifters on Monday. The lifters confessed before the people that they did it to strike a blast. According to eyewitness, local resident Nasir Ahmed went to Nursery to fetch a news paper after parking the bike. Immediately after it, the youths started lifting it and left the spot. Major explosion averted in Sivasagar

A major blast was averted in Sivasagar district as police and army recovered a huge quantity of explosive materials from Buhubar area on Sunday. These explosive materials were recovered from a rented house of one Moinuddin Haque at Bihubar area in Gelekey. MHA team in Assam; to visit Indo-Bangla border

A two-member team from the Union home ministry will visit the state’s Indo-Bangla border on Monday. Led by Secretary Border Management Jarnail Singh, the team will make an on the spot assessment of the Cachar-Karimganj sector before suggesting steps to check infiltration from across the Indo Bangla border.The home ministry team will further review the implementation of the Bodo Accord with the Assam government officials in Dispur. The team will assess the progress made in the probe into the October 30 serial blasts. North-east needs security council: Rajnath

BJP says the north eastern region needs a security council to deal with the issues like infiltration and insurgency.Addressing a poll meeting in Tripura on Saturday, the party president Rajnath Singh said its the party's demand to ensure better safety and security in the region.
