APCC holds crucial meet

Assam Congress Committee is holding its executive body meeting in Guwahati on Wednesday to discuss the crucial issues three months ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Presided over by APCC president Bhuubneswar Kalita, AICC general secretary Dr CP Joshi is attending the meeting along with APCC leader Avinash Pandey and chief minister Tarun Gogoi.

Dissidence activities are unlikely to figure in the meeting. On Tuesday evening Dr Joshi, Pandey and top APCC leaders held a crucial meeting at the Chief Minister’s official residence where poll candidates were believed have discussed.

The Umananda temple premises is throbbing with the Shivratri puja offering on Tuesday.

Thousands of people are waiting in long queues on the sand of Brahmaputra from early in the morning to offer puja to the Lord Shiva on the Maha Shivratri day,

“We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure smooth celebration of the annual puja celebration, puja celebration committee officials told Assam Times.

“Over 200 foreign tourists also offered puja to the Lord Shiva from Monday,” they said on Tuesday.

Students learn to paint with light

Some 50 students of photography are spending 3-days learning to paint with light at a photography workshop organised by the department of Mass Communications of Assam Don Bosco University in collaboration with Sony India and Mediahype at Don Bosco School Panbazar, 21 to 23 August.

The Sony India venture is facilitated by Sony alpha-pro specialist from New Delhi Mr Saroj Kumar Dora and freelance photographer Mr Anirban Brahma from Kolkata. “The secret of photography,” explained Mr Dora, “is learning to paint with light.”

The entire programme is being coordinated by Sony Northeast India Regional Manager Mr Neelav Dutta and Marketing Head Nilratan Choudhury and team. The participants at the workshop are photography enthusiasts from colleges and high schools in Guwahati.

The ‘Imageind-2015’ - national photography competition has showcased the best photos at the photography exhibition scheduled to end on Sunday by 3 pm. The results of the National Photography Competition will be declared on 23rd of August, 2015 at the Prize-Distribution Ceremony scheduled to be held at 5 pm at the Gauhati Town Club.
