Assam and Meghalaya on Thursday have failed to get a silver lining in the border dispute centering around Langpi. Participating in the meeting at Byrnihat, Meghalaya Chief Secretary Ranjan Chatterjee has urged his Assam Assam counterpart to withdraw the demand for Langpi saying the area belongs to them.
Assam Chief Secretary P C Sarma has asked Meghalaya to stick to the findings of the Chu Chandra Committee set up by the Supreme Court. But the neighbouring state straightly rejected it. The Assam government further strongly advocated the interstate boundary demarcation by the Centre citing the meeting on June this year by the Chief Ministers in Dispur which was also rejected by the neighbouring state.
