PNB donates fans, bags to students

The 122 nd formation  Day of the Punjab National Bank  ( PNB ) of India here was marked by corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives including donating  7 ceiling fans to Jongal Balahu Garh primary school , Raha to facilitate students attending their classes in comfortable way.

At a brief function on Tuesday morning, the PNB Raha Branch Manager Alakesh Bhattasaryaa  gave away the fans  to the school authority

Prior to the function held at J.B.Garh school, the PNB, Raha branch organized  another programme  at Raha Girls’ High school .The function was presided over by Kalpana Barua, Headmistress of the school and  was attended by Dhruba Das, Chairman, Raha Town committee, Mridul Hazarika, advisor, AASU Raha unit besides the teaching staffs and students of the school  . In the function , 10 girl students of the school from poor back ground were provided study materials like school bags , copies ,pens,umbrella and other essentials along with some cash towards school fees through Savings Bank A/Cs opended in their name under “ PNB LADLI “ programme for popularization of education among the girl child.

Addressing  the students, Alakesh Bhattasaryaa,  Bank  Manager, PNB, Raha  appreciated the role of the teachers for running such like institutions for the betterment of children in particular and society in general. He assured the students that the bank would always try to help and give every possible support to the schools  so that no child feels any disadvantage for getting proper education. He,  in detail, explained to the students about the Bank Education Loan and Student Deposit Scheme

Kalpana Barua in her speech, thanked the PNB , Raha branch  for this gesture. She  added that PNB through its CSR programmes is doing appreciable work in providing a helping hand to not only to the students but also schools.

It might be mentioned here that  Punjab National Bank, India’s first Swadeshi Bank, commenced its operation on April 12 , 1895 at Lahore. The far sighted visioneries and patriots like Lala Lajpat Rai, E.C. Jessawala, Babu Kali Prasanna Roy and others showed courage in giving expression to the sprit of nationalism by establishing the bank purely managed by the Indians and Indian capital. That was the beginning of the journey of Punjab National Bank, popularly known as PNB.Today, PNB with a network of 6899 branches and 9473 ATMs, stands tall amongst  nationalized  banks in India.

Nagaon: A team of Flying Squad comprising of Nagaon police and Excise personnel today seized 42 cartoons of foreign liquer at Sialmari from a Tata Magic vehicle bearing no. AS 02 BC 7095. RAHA: A dreaded dacoit died and another sustained serious injury when a gang war took place in Nagaon on Sunday. The incident took place at Nagabandha in the wee hours where a group of armed dacoits were travelling on a vehicle. As they reached Juria suddenly they spotted another gang and started gun firing at each other.  Identified as Jonab Ali, an infamous died on the spot while another sustained serious injury who is fighting to survive at the hospital. NAGAON: A team of chief minister’s anti corruption and vigilance cell is raiding Rockybul Hussain’s properties in Samoguri, Amoni and Puroni Gudam areas on Friday a day after the enquiry in a number of spots in Nagaon town to ascertain the veracity of the allegations of having illegal properties. RAHA: Two minor boys met watery grave when the duo along with a few others were going to bath in a river in Nagaon district on Saturday. The incident took place in Chapormukh area at around 11.30 in the morning as they were bathing on the river Kopili. Suddenly, the river water  current washed Akash Rai  and Mukti Prasad Bora—both studying in Hansora School who failed to bail out of the strong undercurrent. Local residents in large number along with SDRF personnel arrived in the spot and fished out the bodies leaving a pall of gloom in the area.
RAHA: Yet another rape incident in Nagaon sends no less shock and sensation across the state. RAHA: In a stepped up crackdown across the state against the illegal coal traders, the police in Raha intercepted five coal truck on Tuesday. Acting on a tip off the policeman on the National Highway No 37 seized the five trucks loaded with coal early in the morning. The drivers, who have been detained, confessed to have brought the huge consignment to Guwahati from Jowai in Meghalaya. Interrogation is going on. Despite restrictions on trade and transportation, a section of traders keep dealing in coal these days.
RAHA: A biker died when he lost control over his vehicle before it rammed into the divider on the National Highway No 37 in Raha on Wednesday.The mishap took place at Phulguri in the afternoon when  Amarjyoti Deka, a resident of  Kasomari was riding on his two wheeler which hit the divider.
