KLO cadre held

Security forces from police and army apprehended a Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) from Maktaigaon area on Friday under Gossaigaon PS in Kokrajhar district, 

Identified as Ranjay Barman of Maktaigaon. He was involved with extortion, new cadre recruitment and arms peddling in the area. 

A pistol along with live bullet was recovered from him.

Goria Aikhya Mancha formed

A general meeting was held at Baruapara playground with Mafial Haque Choudhury in the chair where over 200 delegates participated from different districts of the state. An ad-hoc committee was formed to make full pledged committee of the Goria Aikhya Mancha with Rafique-ul Islam as chief convenor along with 10 other members. Suspected person arrested

A man was caught by police late last night at Musalmanpara under Bhawraguri police outpost in Kokrajhar district.The arrested was identified as Sultan Ali of Musalmanpara under Gossaigaon sub-division.A country made caribine,an IED was recovered from him.

Writers’ festival

The Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) has decided to organize Bodo Writers Festival in association with Sahitya Akademy and Bodo Writers Academy on June 18 and 19 next at Salbari in Baksa district. A reception committee today was formed with Gobinda Narzary as chairman and Laimwn Goyary as convenor at a meeting of the sabha held with Sitaram Basumatary, president Salbari district unit BSS in the chair. Over 300 writer and 20 resource persons are participating the festival from different parts of the country, informed Kamala Kanta Mushahary, general secretary of the sabha.

Kickboxing: Five more gold won

Five players from Kickboxing Association, BTC earned five more gold and two silver in the ongoing National Martial Games, 2016 held at SRPF ground,Mumbai in Maharastra on Sunday. Gold winners-Bodosha Boro, Jaidev Rabha, Tularam Basumatary, Mangal Kisku,Nipa Roy while Jayanta Boro and Dhananjay Basumatary won bronze. Participants from Kickboxing Association, BTC are presenting excellent sporting in the games and earned seven gold, silver and two bronze so far, informed Nripendra Chandra Roy, president of the association.

Computer centre sealed, Ashok Stambha anomalies

Kokrajhar district administration sealed the Amtron computer centre run under BCF College in the heart of Kokrajhar town for allegedly use of Ashok Stambha symbol as well government of Assam logo at a private institution.A private institution named Bright Career Foundation (BCF) College, owned by Abdul Khaleque Ahmed hailed from Bilasipara of Dhubri district, situated at Brahma Complex along the RNB Road in Kokrajhar town has been using the Ashok Stambha symbol and Govt. of Assam logo since a long time to attract students and common publics to gain his commercial purposes. Blast at professor's house

A crude bomb was exploded inside a house of Prof. Abdul Kalek Fakir late last night at Rupsigaon under Tulsibil police outpost in Kokrajhar district. According to Fakir, a professor by his profession at Jomduar College in Gossaigaon that a huge sound was arisen inside house complex following explosion late last night which took place around 11.40 pm, but no one was injured. Fakir lodged an FIR with police in this regard. Police rushed the spot and collected samples from the spot, which was suspected of crude bomb that was planted by unidentified miscreants. ‘Investigation is on into incident’, said a senior police officer.

Narzary to work for social integration

Rabiram Narzary, former ABSU president and BPPF, later merged with BPF party ahead assembly election in January last, won the poll battle with huge margin from 29-Kokrajhar West LAC in Kokrajhar district on BPF ticket. Narzary, in his first step in poll battle after merged with BPF party, got 64,423 votes and Dahit Chandra Brahma; AIUDF got 47,083 votes while former Rajya Sabha MP and UPP candidate, UG Brahma got only 18,629 votes. Narzary, after elected to the Assam assembly immediately in an exclusive interview said that he would stress for the social integration in his constituency, besides highlighting social issues to meet healthy development and unity among all sections of community....

Medals for martial game players

Three players from Kickboxing Association, BTC won two gold and silver in the ongoing National Martial Game, 2016 being held at SRPF, Mumbai ground in Maharashtra.  Bikram Rabha won gold in cadit and semi contact under 45 kg category. Karani Patowary, won gold medal in semi contact bout under 51 kg category on Friday . Bina Brahma won silver medal in semi contact under 41 kg category in the game.     

BPF clean sweeps in BTAD

Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF), an alloy of BJP-AGP has made landslide victory with winning 12 constituencies in BTAD region that result was declared on Thursday. BPF president Hagrama Mohilary, who is also BTC chief, thanked all citizens of the BTC region for supporting his party to win 12 seats in the election. After getting news of winning 12 seats in the result, Mohilary said that we had predicted that we would win all contesting seats on public’ blesses and today we have emerged to retain our party position. ‘We will participate in the BJP led alliance government in the state and working for the peoples’ welfare is the prime job in the coming days. We would stress for the social integration to meet healthy development and unity among all sections of community’, Mohilary added.
