Gana satyagraha in Kokrajhar

Assam Assam Students Union  carried out Gana Satyagraha in Kokrajhar in protest against NDA govt's policy to grant citizenship and right to stay to Bangladeshis in India today. 

Students and common publics from irrespective of students union and communitues in the region took part in the satyagraha and demanded early deportation of Bangladeshis from Assam. 

 Lurin Jyoti Gogoi, general secretary, Romeo P Narzary, ABSU vice president, Stephen Lakra, AASAA vice president, Hafijul Ahmed, secretary Goria Moria Jatiya Parishad among 8therd were prominent attendies in the agitation and voice against the centre's decision to move citizenship and right to stay in India to Bangladeshis in India

Dipanko Kumar Nath, president of the AASU slammed centre for their irresponsible step while giving right to stay and citizenship to foreigners in India said that the students union will continue it's protest against govt’s policy for the greater interest of the state

He has demanded early identification of foreigners and deport them to freed Assam from illegally infiltration.He said that illegal immigrants from Bangladesh has been creating resentment among citizens of the state for the dark interest of political parties. 

Nath has warned for indefinite agitation against the govt if their demands are not meet in early and Assam should be freedom from any kinds of illegal settlers in the state

Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya, adviser to the students union said that the students union never allow foreigners to stay in Assam as well India. He has demanded Assam state should be free from foreigners and make Assam a healthy integrated state in the country. 

'The students union and citizens of the state are ready to step against foreigners and Assam be checked from illegally immigrants', said Bhattacharya. 

The satyagraha agitation with banner, festoone, placards started from Rashmela ground and proceeded to RNB road, Hatimata road and concluded at the same point.

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday.  Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Basumatary's quit of the party ahead assembly election would draw a set back party strength in the Kokrajhar. Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday.
