In yet another major change in the pre poll political landscape in Dima Hasao district, several Congressleaders are believed to have been preparing to join BJP. The date of joining has yet to be decided. Even after Thaosen quit the post, BJP has not formed it only because of the deal. They include Debojeet Thaosen, Kulendra Daulagupu, Denis Teron, Laljoshua Baite, Devojit Bathari, Samuel Changsan and Tushar Kanti Deb who have agreed to join BJP if they are allowed to remain in power.
The sudden development took place a few days after the Debojeet Thaosen resigned after the Congress-led council was reduced to minority when 2 members joined BJP apart from three independents.

Such folly & greedy act on the part of congress influence people to enter BJP is unwelcomed. These people have completely eaten up all developmental funds.
I myself have supported Mr.Samuel Changsan but after seeing his double face I have ceased to follow his footsteps. They should be barred from this district altogether

The 12-hours Assam bandh called by All Adivasi Students Association of

Wild elephants trampled to death a boy and injured and a girl in Baska
district on Friday.
The tragic incident took place took place at Orungajuli village under
Nagrijuli police station when a herd of wild elephants entered their
village. As the local residents tried to chase away the herd, the
animals turned violent. The deceased was identified as Shiva Magar.
Both were taken to a local hospital where Shiva succumbed to his
injuries later. Sunita is struggling for her life.

Two hardcore NDFB leaders were killed at an encounter with security forces in Sonitpur district of Assam on Thursday. The Brahmaputra was flowing above the danger level at Nematighat in Jorhat district, Burhidehing in Dibrugarh district, Desang in Sibsagar and Jia Bharali in Sonitpur. In Majuli alone, at least Rs 195 crore have been spent for flood control in the last four years. Agriculture was also affected as about 6,000 hectares were flooded with standing crops like rice being ruined.
The overall flood situation deteriorates further. Some more villages have come under water. With these, the number of villages under water in Dhemaji, Chirang and Lakhimpur districts has gone up to 350 villages in 11 districts where one lakh people have been affected.Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spoke to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to discuss the situation and extended the central help.
