In yet another major change in the pre poll political landscape in Dima Hasao district, several Congressleaders are believed to have been preparing to join BJP. The date of joining has yet to be decided. Even after Thaosen quit the post, BJP has not formed it only because of the deal. They include Debojeet Thaosen, Kulendra Daulagupu, Denis Teron, Laljoshua Baite, Devojit Bathari, Samuel Changsan and Tushar Kanti Deb who have agreed to join BJP if they are allowed to remain in power.
The sudden development took place a few days after the Debojeet Thaosen resigned after the Congress-led council was reduced to minority when 2 members joined BJP apart from three independents.

Such folly & greedy act on the part of congress influence people to enter BJP is unwelcomed. These people have completely eaten up all developmental funds.
I myself have supported Mr.Samuel Changsan but after seeing his double face I have ceased to follow his footsteps. They should be barred from this district altogether

The killer dengue claimed one more life in Guwahati on Thursday. Zoo Road resident Raju Dewan died of the disease at Down Town Hospital on Wednesday three days after his wife Loni died of the same disease. Panic grips in Bongaigaon town when NDFB militants triggered a bomb on Wednesday.There is no report of any casualty and damage to property. Dispur is prepared to operationalise 181 helpline exclusively for women in distress.Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi writes to Chief Secretary PP Verma asking him to instruct the state Home and Political Department to work out an action plan to operationalise the 181 helpline facility for women as it was in other states like Delhi.Gogoi directed that the helpline be operationalised in consultation with the Assam Police, Health and Family Welfare, Assam State Disaster Management Authority and other line departments. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that the state government would continue its fight to get ST status for six communities in the state.Talking to reporters on Monday, Gogoi said that his government woud be fighting for the ST status for the six communities saying that it was a legitimate demand.He said the Centre has not rejected the proposal. Only the Registrar General Of India (RGI) has not recommended the proposal. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is firm on his stand on the land-swap deal with Bangladesh.Talkin to reporters in Guwahati on Monday, Gogoi said that 665 acre of state land was under the possession of the neighbouring country since Independence.He said, "we are working on this and now we will get back 397.5 acres from them."
