A hectic preparation is in full swing to host 12th Adivasi Mahasabha with three days colourful programme scheduled at Magurmari High School ground from October 2 next in Kokrajhar district. 

Stephen Lakra, working president of the Reception Committee of the Mahasabha told that the Mahasabha has been organising to uplift social, literary and community integration of the Adivasi in Assam as well across the country. 

Over 2000 delegates from various districts of Assam are participating in the grand function, besides 50,000 people's thronged has been expected on the open session of the Mahasabha. The reception committee has engaged 150 volunteers to serve the Mahasabha to market a grand successful which is the biggest function of the Adivasi community in the state

Dr Rameswar Oraon, chairman National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will grace as chief guest, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has consented to grace as inaugurator on the open session on October 4, Lakra said.

A hardcore KLO militant surrendered before Kokrajhar police on Monday. Identified as Ribu Ram Rai alias Mathura surrendered at the Kokrajhar police station along with his wife Nibedita in the evening. The couple deposited a hand grenade before the police.Son of Somen Chandra Rai of Jadumani village under Fakiragram police station, Ribu joined the outfit in 2010 and  underwent arms training in Nagaland. Kokrajhar ABSU is gearing up for the annual conference on Tuesday. The venue is Kazigaon Gurudev Kalicharan Nwgwr in Parbatjhora. The three days conference is full if delegate session, literary competitions,games & sports along with cultural functions on December 16,17 and 18.ABSU president Promod Boro will attend the main conference as chief guest on Wednesday. Two persons of a family sustained serious injury when a bolero vehicle driven by West Kokrajhar MLA Pradeep Brahma collided its head on a two wheeler in Kokrajhar on Sunday.   The incident took place in the morning at Kuksi bazar in Dotma on the Serfanguri-Bilashipara road in the district. A free eye camp has fetched no less appreciation for the Bodoland Peoples Front(BPF) in Kokrahar. People in large number turned up to the five doctors from Nepal at the free medical camp at Patgaon Bazar on Wednesday. BTC executive member Mono Kumar Brahma inaugurated the camp and he himself also checked up his eyes in the camp. The poor patients got all medicines free of cost who participated in the camp.
