Adivasi Mahasabha to starts from Oct 4
A hectic preparation is in full swing to host 12th Adivasi Mahasabha with three days colourful programme scheduled at Magurmari High School ground from October 2 next in Kokrajhar district.
Stephen Lakra, working president of the Reception Committee of the Mahasabha told that the Mahasabha has been organising to uplift social, literary and community integration of the Adivasi in Assam as well across the country.
Over 2000 delegates from various districts of Assam are participating in the grand function, besides 50,000 people's thronged has been expected on the open session of the Mahasabha. The reception committee has engaged 150 volunteers to serve the Mahasabha to market a grand successful which is the biggest function of the Adivasi community in the state.
Dr Rameswar Oraon, chairman National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will grace as chief guest, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has consented to grace as inaugurator on the open session on October 4, Lakra said.

BTC executive member for Transport Department James Basumatary distributed Tata Wingers and Auto Rickshaws to boost alternative employment in a function held at the BTC Secretariat Complex at Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. The Bodoland Territorial Council is unhappy with Rockybul Hussain after the forest minister withdrew the AFPF forces from BTAD areas following the Ultapani incident where suspected NDFB-S militants took away arms from the forces at gunpoint.Speaking to reporters in Kokrajhar on Tuesday, BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyari said that the government has withdrawn AFPF without any intimation. “Rather the government should have engaged more forces for protection and conservation purpose,” said Borgoyari.He further asked NDFB(Songbijit faction) to return the arms they snatched from the eco task force in Ultapani for the greater interest of protection of forest and wildlife in the Bodoland region.
