Adivasi Mahasabha to starts from Oct 4
A hectic preparation is in full swing to host 12th Adivasi Mahasabha with three days colourful programme scheduled at Magurmari High School ground from October 2 next in Kokrajhar district.
Stephen Lakra, working president of the Reception Committee of the Mahasabha told that the Mahasabha has been organising to uplift social, literary and community integration of the Adivasi in Assam as well across the country.
Over 2000 delegates from various districts of Assam are participating in the grand function, besides 50,000 people's thronged has been expected on the open session of the Mahasabha. The reception committee has engaged 150 volunteers to serve the Mahasabha to market a grand successful which is the biggest function of the Adivasi community in the state.
Dr Rameswar Oraon, chairman National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will grace as chief guest, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has consented to grace as inaugurator on the open session on October 4, Lakra said.

One more extornist arrested by police who was involved with extortion demand from a contractor of NTPC under Salakati police outpost in Kokrajhar late last night. Four persons were rushed to Harigaon yesterday to receive demand money in the name of NDFB-S where one Govindo Barman was red handed arrested, and on his revealed another involved person was arrested last night and two others are absconding. A fake NDFB-S was arrested by public from Harigaon area under Salakati police outpost this evening in Kokrajhar. The arrested was identified as Gobindo Barman of Banderchara, was arrested red handed by common publics while coming to take demanded money on behalf of NDFB-S from a contractor of NTPC in Kokrajhar. Barman demanded 50,000 in the name NDFB-S where the contractor had also given away demanded money and he was red handed by publics, said a resident of Salakati. Security forces have claimed to capture a cadre of Rabha Viper Army (RVA) room Cechapani under Kajigaon police station on Friday in Kokrajhar district. Acting on an information about the presence of militant cadres in the area, a joint team of Assam Police and 7 Jat regiment of Army conducted operation and apprehended a cadre of the RVA militant outfit organisation. The cadre was identified as Mopen Rabha (23) of Cechapani. Barhoongka AC from Kokrajhar beat Dihung SC from Kagrabari 1-0 in Tuesday's match of Tikendra Brahma and Aolang Brahma memorial football trophy at Kagrabari ground in Kokrajhar. Both team remained goal less in the first half. Pangjaphu Kwi of Barhoongka scored lone goal against Dihung in 69 minutes of second half and led the team to win 1-0.
