Anger on refugee move echoes in Delhi
The anger against the Centre’s refugee move echoes in New Delhi with a day long dharna at the Jantar Montor on Friday asking the NDA government not to proceed with the dangerous deal where Assam will have to bear the brunt.
A newly formed organization is also preparing to move the Supreme Court asking for its intervention to force the Centre withdraw the move to give refugee status to non Muslim Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals in the country.
Led by AGP leader and former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, the Asom Andolon Sangram Manch is staging dharna raising the voice of protest from morning.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the delegation met President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari and submitted memorandums opposing the Centre’s decision.
